This article contains plot details about Avengers: Endgame trailer ! While Disney showed it to the press, some may nevertheless find the following details spoilerish. Disney showed two scenes from Avengers: Endgame at CinemaCon on Wednesday, footage which revealed the status of the Infinity Stones and explains — to a degree — why Captain Marvel has been a no-show until now.
First scene (Endgame trailer)
The first scene is set in Avengers headquarters and it’s the same scene from the trailer where Thor faces off with Captain Marvel. The footage opens mid-scene with Carol Danvers about to walk out on Cap, Banner, Natasha, Thor, Rhodey, Rocket and Nebula. No sign of Tony Stark or Scott Lang here. When asked where she’s going, Carol says matter-of-factly, “To kill Thanos.”
The Avengers tell her they usually work as a team, not that it fazes Carol. Rhodey, mind you, doesn’t seem to like Carol — you’d think he’d be cool with a fellow former USAF officer — and grills her about where she’s been all this time. Carol says there are a lot of planets out there who don’t have Avengers to help them. That answer seems to suit Cap fine.
Carol says she knows someone who may be able to tell her where Thanos is. But Nebula does one better and says she knows exactly where he is. Nebula recalls how, even when she was disassembled, she wanted to please him. Thanos would explain his plan to her and he would always give the same answer about where he would retire to after it was accomplished.
Rocket uses a hologram to show a planet where, two days prior, the same energy signature that was recorded when Thanos used the Infinity Gauntlet on Earth appeared again. That means Thanos has used the Stones again. “So let’s use them to bring everyone back,” it’s brought up during an exchange between Carol and the Avengers.
Banner wonders if things will go any differently than the last time they ganged up on Thanos, but Natasha says they owe it to those they lost to at least try if there’s even a remote chance. Captain Marvel says the difference this time is that they have her.
The scene ends with a brooding Thor finally getting up from the table and summoning Stormbreaker to him as he faces Captain Marvel. Their exchange from the trailer — “I like this one” — follows. Then Cap, the boy scout who once never swore, declares: “Let’s go get this son of a bitch.”
The second scene shows all the heroes save Banner and Stark aboard the Benatar, with Captain Marvel and Rocket piloting. Rocket asks his passengers which of them have never been in space before. Cap, Natasha and Rhodey all raise their hands. Rocket says he doesn’t want anyone puking in his ship.
There’s a close-up on Cap’s eyes, celestial light reflecting off them, as the Benatar makes the jump to warp. End of scene.
