A 2004 Indian love drama film called Veer-Zaara was directed by Yash Chopra and co-produced by his son Aditya Chopra. Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta play the title characters, the star-crossed lovers: Zaara Hayaat Khan (Zinta) is the daughter of a Pakistani politician, and Veer Pratap Singh (Khan) is an officer in the Indian Air Force.

Veer Zaara Movie Storyline
As a show of goodwill, the Pakistani government resolves to consider unresolved cases involving Indian prisoners in 2004. The defense of prisoner 786 is handed to aspiring Pakistani attorney Saamiya Siddiqui as her maiden case. For 22 years, the prisoner hasn’t exchanged words with anyone.
Veer opens up to Saamiya when she calls him by his name, Veer Pratap Singh, and he tells her his tale. 1982 – A vibrant Pakistani woman named Zaara Hayaat Khan comes from a prominent political family in Lahore. As a final request, Bebe, Zaara’s Sikh governess (whom she refers to as her grandma), requests that Zaara deposit her ashes in the Sutlej river among her ancestors. Zaara’s bus is involved in an accident as it is on its way to India.
Veer, a Punjabi Hindu pilot for the Indian Air Force, saves her and performs Bebe’s last rites. In light of Lohri, Veer persuades Zaara to accompany him back to his village so they may spend a day together. Zaara meets Veer’s aunt Saraswati Kaur and uncle Choudhary Sumer Singh. Veer becomes aware of his growing feelings for Zaara.
