He is widely regarded as one of the most influential gurus of contemporary yoga, and he is sometimes referred to as “the father of modern yoga” due to his significant effect on the development of postural yoga. He helped revive hatha yoga in the same way that earlier pioneers influenced by physical culture, such as Yogendra and Kuvalayananda, did.
Krishnamacharya was educated in all six Vedic arenas or Indian schools of thought. Krishnamacharya traveled across India conducting lectures and demonstrations to promote yoga, including supposedly stopping his heartbeat, while under the patronage of the King of Mysore, Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV.
